FIRST THINGS FIRST

Jesus is the head of the Church. We want everything that we do to tell our broken world that Jesus is the answer. Its ok, not to be ok. We believe that our savior is big enough to handle it all. We pray that FCC is a beacon of that hope in Paulding County; that starts, and ends, with the Gospel of Jesus.

So What is the Gospel?

The Gospel is hope and good news that God’s mercy has brought light to the darkness of this world. It is the thread from creation and our fall through to our redemption and relationship with Christ through His life, death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ. Christ’s crucifixion is the heart of the gospel. His resurrection is the power of the gospel. His ascension is the glory of the gospel.

We want everything that comes from Faith Community to be related to the Gospel. At our heart, and the heart of the Gospel, is the cross of Jesus Christ because of the work He accomplished in the resurrection. Christ’s death satisfies the demands of God’s holy justice and His resurrection conquered the grave. It is in this Gospel we see His mysterious love and amazing grace.

WHAT WE BELIEVE ABOUT . . .

Holy Spirit

God

Jesus

We believe in God eternally existing in three distinct persons (God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit). We believe that Jesus Christ is the second member of the trinity who became flesh to reveal God to man and to become the savior of the lost world.

(Genesis 1:1,26,27, Genesis 3:22, Psalm 90:2, Matthew 28:19, John 10:30, 2 Corinthians 13:14)

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal and co-eternal with God the Father. Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He rose from the dead three days later to demonstrate his power over sin and death. Faith in Jesus Christ is the only way that man can enter into a relationship with God.

(Matthew 1:22-23, Isaiah 9:6, John 1:1-5, John 14:6,10-30, Hebrews 4:14-15, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, Romans 1:3-4, Acts 1:9-11, 1 Timothy 6:14-15, John 2:1-2)

The Holy Spirit is co-equal and co-eternal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. No one can enter into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ without the supernatural activity of the Holy Spirit in their life. He also lives in every believer from the moment of salvation to conform them into the image of Jesus Christ. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right.

(2 Corinthians 3:14-17, John 3:3-8, John 16:7-13: 14:16-17, Acts 1:8, Ephesians 1:13, Galatians 5:25, 1 Peter 1:2, Titus 3:5-7)

The Bible

We believe the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God and that men were moved by the Spirit to write words of Scripture exactly as God intended. Therefore, the Bible is without error in its original manuscripts. The resulting sixty six books, no more or no less, comprise the finished canon of Holy Scripture.

(2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:20-21, 2 Timothy 1:13, Psalm 119:105, Psalm 119:160, Psalm 12:6, Proverbs 30:5)

Salvation

We believe the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ on the cross provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sins. Therefore, salvation only occurs when a person turns from their sin and places their faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. This means a person person believes in the true identity of Jesus as the Son of God. This also means that a person trusts in the atoning work that Jesus Christ did on their behalf to establish a right relationship with God.

(Romans 6:23, Ephesians 2:8-9, John 14:6; 1:12, Titus 3:5, Galatians 3:26, Romans 5:1)

The Church

We believe the church is the Body of Christ, the family of God made up of every christian on earth. It is expressed through local communities of christians. It is a place where the Holy Spirit empowers Christians to use their gifts in reaching non-christians with God’s salvation message, and in helping each other grow spiritually. The church is led by the Holy Spirit through the pastors He has established.

(Acts 2, 1 Corinthians 12, Ephesians 2:19, 4:1-13, 10)
